Elon Musk hair: Before and After

The Business Tycoon Elon Musk, best known for his feats on Tesla, inventing an online bank that would eventually combine to become Paypal, has his shortcomings. Those who have seen his previous hair in his younger years need no telling that he has done something to his hair to get the thick hair on his head now.

But what did he do? Most spectators postulate that he had a hair transplant done. Elon Musk before and after hair transplant looks way too different. The results are impeccable, so let’s analyse if it was a hair transplant, shall we?

Before and After Elon Musk Hair

Elon Musk always had thin hair if you look closely at his hair from his teenage years. Hair thinning clings to some people. And it seems even a millionaire like Elon Musk couldn’t escape the ways of nature either. His hair was never quite dense. But, by the time he was in his 20s, his hair had started falling above his forehead. His hair around the front scalp was lost while he was founding PayPal.

It started at the front right of his head, where his hair was already missing from. His hairline was receding towards the crown, and the rest around the head also thinned considerably. His hair fall reached an advanced stage, and observant experts can determine it as another case of male pattern baldness. Male pattern baldness stems from the hair receding from the frontline and the temples. They had noted it as a whopping Norwood 4 on the Hamilton-Norwood scale.

He would be bald now if he left his receding hairline as it was. It was clear that without treatment, his baldness would have progressed rapidly.

Fast forward, a couple of years pass and around 2002, you find him with a hairline less receded. The crown is fully hidden with hair, though not entirely dense. At this point, the experts categorise his situation at Norwood 2 or 3.

What Kind of Hair Restoration Did Elon Musk Use?

Elon Musk, before a hair transplant, was someone with a dangerously receding hairline. He would have been a bald man today. No one would believe all this hair came out of nowhere. How he suddenly started to appear with a small thick mane on his head became a wonder to everyone. But what can’t a rich man do, right?

We know the mogul can afford the best hair restoration treatments, especially when he has vast connections and significant friends. Though Elon has never spoken of his hair transplant, we can’t think of a better or more possible treatment that can get him such instant results.

Some techniques we can think of are Medications, PRP therapy and Hair transplant. Let’s get on to which is the most likely conclusion:

Medication

Finasteride and minoxidil are two popular options for treating hair loss.

These medications are likely responsible for Elon Musk's miraculous hair growth. However, this is improbable at best. Elon Musk, before and after hair surgery, has hair changes that are too drastic for these minor medications.

The primary function of these medications is to prevent future thinning of the hair. It's rare for them to bring back Musk-level hair thickness. They also can't get around a receding hairline like Musk. Further, Elon Musk would need to take the medication for a long to see the slightest results.

PRP

Injections of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) are used more often by doctors to speed up healing and promote hair growth. The treatment only takes around 20 minutes and does not need surgery or time away from work.

In the same way, fertiliser helps plants grow. This substance may help hair grow, thicken, and prevent thinning. Elon Musk might have combined this technique with hair transplants to boost hair growth.

Hair Transplant

Hair Transplants provide the best results out of any other hair transplant technique. They have a fast growth rate, and the latest hair transplant system has improved.

The process involves moving actual hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another using precise equipment. Donor regions are those that do not experience hair loss. Hair is transferred from the head's back and sides, which we know as the donor site, where it never falls out, to the crown and front.

FUT or FUE?

We can guarantee he went under the knife, but do we know how his knife was used? What we are getting at is if the procedure was FUT or FUE

FUE and FUT are similar in that the surgeons collect and harvest the hair follicles from the donor area and then insert them into the recipient area, which is balding. FUE has more seamless results with a more intricate process which causes minor damage to the individual’s scalp. The surgeon removes no strips in this process, and no scars are found.

FUT leaves a scar on the donor spot as the surgeons pull the entire graft and strip it from the scalp. This donor area is mainly from the back and the sides. The surgeon removes the hair follicles, dissects the tissue, and implants it in the bald spot. The strip is primarily horizontal. Some people also refer to FUT as "strip excision."

If FUE were available back then when he had the transplant, Musk would probably go for that method. But FUE only appeared sometime this decade. Before that, all we had was the FUT procedure. If you observe the side of Musk’s head, you will find a scar that only FUT could leave.

Elon’s Eligibility

Elon Musk is a good or bad candidate for a hair transplant, depending on his having enough donor hair, to begin with. If you wait long enough until you are middle-aged and bald, you might not be applicable for a hair transplant.

Your donor site should have enough hair to cover the bald spot on the recipient site. If there are any potential hair loss sites that the surgeon notices will be balding in the near future, they should cover that too. But to cover that, you need sufficient hair for now and tomorrow.

Elon was too young when he got his transplant and wasn’t the best candidate for the surgery. His hair loss was volatile, and the doctors could have disagreed. But many things can change if you are desperate with a lot of money in an urgent situation.

Conclusion

Elon Musk is proof that you can look youthful and glamorous no matter your age. Just look at Elon Musk before and after hair surgery! He turned the tables around, for real.

After our intensive analysis, we can figure that he must have had a few hair transplants. Or he had them and combined PRP and medications as well. Knowing the ambitious man he is, he must have gone all the way.
